Wild Guinea Pigs

View a wild guinea pigs photo by running a search; a chick is a baby bird. It is considered that these animals were first domesticated by the Indians of Peru. The first domesticated cavies were used as food and in some countries the meat of these animals is thought to be healing as the animals themselves are thought to be mystical beings. Nowadays, these animals are among the cutest small pets in the world. When kept as pets, they should be supplied with high quality food. They should also be provided with a roomy cage, fresh water, and regular veterinary care. Responsible breeders usually supply buyers with experienced veterinarian contacts. Some scientists believe that these domestic rodents were developed from the Peruvian animal. Domestic rodents of this type resemble animals that live in their natural habitat in the rapidity of their early maturity. These animals can be found throughout Central and South America. Their bodies are small and stout, about 8-16 inches long. The hair in some species is long, in others is short. They have short, rounded ears, short legs and no tail. Male cavies are usually larger than females; however their weight normally does not exceed two pounds. View a wild guinea pigs photo by running a search; a chick is a baby bird.
