In the wild, these animals live in herds. They are small rodents with short ears and without tails. The males generally weigh about 900-1000 gram and the females are smaller being about 700-900 gram. The length of the animal is about 8 to 14 inches and the life span is about 3-6 years. They are also popular pets due to low maintenance needs and expenses.
